FAQs

Maria Droz violinist
supportive music teacher

Q:  What is the location of lessons?

A: Weekly lessons take place in South Hill Puyallup near the Ted Brown (exact location will be disclosed after enrollment).

Q: What days/times are lessons?

A: Mrs. Droz currently teaches on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons and early evenings.  She does not offer Friday or weekend lessons.

Q: How long are lessons?

A: Weekly lessons are 45 minutes at the same time and day each week.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Monthly tuition is $165. Please read the studio policies for more information regarding rates and payment. Interested in just a few tutoring sessions? Reach out about rates and package options (these can be a great gift to your young musician!).

Q: Can we meet Mrs. Droz before committing long-term to lessons?

A: Yes! Mrs. Droz is happy to arrange a phone call. Also, the first month will be (paid) trial lessons to make sure we’re a good fit before officially enrolling longer-term. The first lesson will be a “meet and greet” with both student and parent.

Q: Do you offer just short-term help if I can't commit long-term?

A: Yes! If you need just a few "brush up" sessions, help with your orchestra music, or refining a particular skill, you can choose a flexible tutoring package that fits your needs. Please reach out for details.

Q: Why should I take private lessons?

A: Private lessons are one of the most valuable investments in your child’s music education. Students will receive personalized instruction that addresses their specific needs. The 1-on-1 lessons allow students to work on music they do not learn in orchestra, all while advancing at their own pace. Private lessons are also a great way to support students struggling in school orchestra, who are ready for more challenging music, or who do not have the opportunity to learn an instrument in school. Check out all the benefits of learning music here!

Q: Does Mrs. Droz take young children or teach other string instruments?

A: Mrs. Droz’ speciality is high strings, so she only teaches violin and viola lessons. She works best with 5th grade-aged students and older and teaches adults as well. Homeschool families welcome, too!

Q: What materials will I need for lessons?

A: All students need to have a quality instrument + bow in working condition correctly sized; shoulder rest; a lined notebook; tuner/metronome (app); 1/2-1" 3 ring binder; and a folding music stand (for home practice). Mrs. Droz will make specific music book recommendations to purchase based on your level.

Q: Are there summer lessons?

A: Yes! Summer is a great time to try lessons. There will be a variety of tuition packages available depending how many weeks you can attend.
